GET PLANTED: How To Start Praying TODAY

John 12:20-24 ESV

Now among those who went up to worship at the feast were some Greeks. 21 So these came to Philip, who was from Bethsaida in Galilee, and asked him, “Sir, we wish to see Jesus.” 22 Philip went and told Andrew; Andrew and Philip went and told Jesus. 23 And Jesus answered them, “The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. 24 Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit.

I remember when this Scripture “came alive” for us. We were praying – go figure, eh? During that time, we realized that Jesus was the seed! Wow! And we were His harvest!

From then on, we’ve committed to repeat this pattern in our own lives through prayer. When we “enter-seed,” we’re planting ourselves in Christ. People will not see what happens “underground,” but Jesus does. His Spirit is causing us to grow, and reproduce Christ in others. (Talk about “miracle grow!” Lol.)

The key to fruitful praying is to GET PLANTED!

Don’t think about praying. Don’t talk about praying. Just get started! Make it personal, and take time to pray – right now! Here’s how…

Set a timer on your phone for 5 minutes – for real
Start praying (If you don’t know what to pray, start with praise!)
Pray with your eyes open or closed
Whisper or speak normally
Stand, sit, kneel, or go for a walk
Shift your focus from yourself to Jesus by thanking Him
When your timer goes off, ask yourself: Can I go again?!

As passion grows, take on bigger time blocks – 10 minutes, 15 minutes, 30 minutes, etc. Bring a handful of friends in next time, and commit to go 30 minutes together. Do it one week, and then ask yourself the same question: Can we go again?!

Just remember what’s happening: When we “enter-seed” (intercede), the seed is growing… and the seed is Jesus!

Are you ready to GET PLANTED? Try going 5 minutes right now… It’s amazing what can happen when we sow ourselves in small ways. Ready, set, GROW!
