Culture Code

Collaboration & Community

After Christ’ ascension, we see believers continuing in prayer (Acts 2:42), and their consistency began to unite them. And over time, their collaboration - co-laboring with Christ (Mark 16:20) - developed into a full-on, faith-filled community. Together, they cared and carried on well, growing into new pockets of culture every day.

Spirit-led Learning

Over and over, we see the Holy Spirit’s involvement, leading and loving through the believers. In fact, it was such a big idea - following Christ by his Spirit - that the entire movement become known as the Way (John 1:23; John 14:6; Acts 9:2). And yet, even while “learning,” the Lord was always leading them along the right path, and what they read in the Scriptures proved it.

Faith Infusions

After the Cross, things only began to build. Instead of bogging down, the believers only became bolder. And the more they grew in the Gospel, they more clearly they saw Christ… and themselves in Him. One by one, these ordinary folks were infused with faith (Acts 4:31), and their confidence in Christ caused them to do extraordinary things for Him. When they embraced His resurrection, they embodied his righteousness… with many miracle ripples following. To them, every good work for Christ was just a finished work from Him.

Influential Imaginations

With renewed thinking, believers were welcomed into a world of possibility (Matthew 9:26), literally. Every prayer seemed pregnant with potential, a positive change just waiting to happen. Once faith was installed, a simple thought would go viral until their entire viewpoint expanded. When looking to Christ, nothing seemed too intimidating (or impressive) anymore. What they pictured in prayer was so crisp that it just seemed possible.

Missioning Movements

Completely convinced, these Christ carriers wanted to honor the mission at hand... somehow. They had seen Jesus as Christ, and were now living under his loving leadership. And yet, they still didn’t know how to match the magnitude of his sacrificial service. But in light of His love, it didn’t matter. With gratitude and gusto, they quit waiting for the right moment, and simply started making moves. To places familiar and far, they went, because they knew they were sent - at the Master’s own Word. And with that idea - that commissioning from Christ (Matthew 28:18-20) - their prayers kept them constantly moving, and constantly missioning.

Powered by Presence

After decades of doing life this way, their stories were passed down, and a theme that kept these believers going was the knowing that Christ was with them. In fact, it was the only thing they ever talked about! Their awareness of Him fueled everything they did for Him. (The most Christ-like were simply the most Christ-minded.) Often, the happy grey-haired ones relived His faithfulness in a myriad of their own miracle-memories. These believers lived in that awareness, nurturing it into a lifestyle that leaned forward by faith - even past death. And collectively, they continued to thrive in each new generation on the accounts of all the answered prayers from the previous ones.

Simply put, a prayer culture is a routine – a new normal – that friends make to pray together, which can quickly become a revival – the next New – that an entire culture feels for the better.

When a few friends wanted to make a difference in their school, instead of bum-rushing the stage, they just found an empty room to pray. Every week, they continued until the year ended with over 75 people. The next year, over two hundred! And soon after that, they began connecting with countless others online. No one really planned on making a movement. They just made a move. Needless to say, the gatherings have become bigger, but we’re still committed to the all-personal motive behind those early moments, that prayer changes everything – especially those who pray.

As an extension of Believers World Outreach Church, we support the following:

We Believe…

• In God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.

• The Old and New Testaments are God’s divinely inspired words.

• All have sinned and are in need of salvation.

• Salvation has been provided for all people only through Jesus Christ.

• God’s will is for everyone to be filled with the Holy Spirit and speak in tongues, which is a personal prayer language.

• Healing is provided in the redemptive work of Christ and available to every believer.

• Spiritual growth comes from a believer’s commitment to a local church, regular Bible study and prayer.

• There shall be a bodily resurrection of the just and unjust.

• There shall be a literal return of the Lord Jesus Christ to receive His Church (the Rapture) and later, His Millennial Reign on earth.
